Project Highlights
With aging infrastructure and a growing student population, the Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District embarked on a plan to modernize its facilities to better meet the needs of the community. One upgrade was a new stadium plaza at Saratoga High School. As part of the project, a space frame canopy entrance canopy was manufactured and installed by DSI Spaceframes at the admission point to the football field. The lightweight space frame canopy spans two modular buildings that house the ticketing booth on one side and concessions on the other. The overhead structure features a sun shade to shield students and visitors from the California heat. It also supports a custom, curvilinear sign that echoes the curve of the plaza. This lit halo sign welcomes people to the “Home of the Falcons.” Additional lighting is interspersed throughout the space frame canopy, creating a striking ambiance for evening activities. The modern appearance of the new stadium plaza…achieved by space frames…promotes the school’s identity and reflects the improvements found beyond the entrance canopy.
